Valentine’s Day fast approaches and this is my first one where I have a girlfriend. Needless to say, it’s exciting. And, while for her privacy, and mine, I’m not going to talk much about my personal relationship—except that it’s going well, and I love her so much—I figured I’d do a little ruminating. Continue reading
He had his hand against his cheek, and his eyes looked tired—even with the candlelight in them.
“So,” she began, and he held up his hand.
He had this odd, multi-band ring.
“No, none of that. Be more open, would you?” Continue reading
I am shaking while writing this. This may be too far, but, I almost feel like it’s my responsibility to talk about it. Art is supposed to build up people, or at least make them see something that might change them inside—and in the modern world, it is almost selfish to be a creator and not share my…issues.
So… yeah.
Told by many this is not a good idea: fuck it.
Oh God, fuck it.
I’m 22 and I’ve never had a girlfriend. Continue reading
(It’s better to give than to receive, right? Well, since it’s Christmas and all–have one more re-post on me. My favorite Christmas story I’ve ever written. Originally posted December 10th, 2016.)
It’s getting cold even here in Florida, so I thought I’d write something a little joyful and a little warm.
I call it:
Being Happy In The Morning
Too early to do this, Charles concluded. Too early in the morning. But Charles would not have it any other way. Continue reading
Rain clouds part when she is around, and yet I do not love her. And, yet, I so love her. Complicated feelings, all of them. Shifting. Sifting. Sliding. Continue reading
Let it be said that I do not always do stories which are all doom and gloom. This one is, shocker, a pure romance story. Served to you a couple of days before the day of couples, Valentine’s Day.
I hope you enjoy this tale. It’s called:
—
The thing about her was that I knew. I did not think I could know. It was astonishing. Flabbergasting to even comprehend that such a person could exist.
But, there she was. Standing there, and looking around with big eyes, and I just…melted. A little ball of wax in my heart moved to liquid. A slow thing gliding down my chest. Continue reading

The wrapping: silver. The shape: a hard rectangle. He felt the spine underneath his fingers. Too easy. Did not matter if he was tired, he could tell this shape in his sleep.
“So, it’s a book, but which one?” Continue reading
I have no idea if the weight of two people on the hood of a car is good for it. But I don’t care. It holds us up in more than one way.
I stare out at them, the stars, and I think a lot of things. I’m told that’s a pretentious thing to say. I’m told we live in a world full of clichés and platitudes. And yet, like so many before me, I like looking at them, and wondering.
“You’re thinking again,” she says, and I like to hear that voice of hers.
I like to look at her too, even if it’s only this time for a brief sidelong glance. Continue reading
The night crackles, and in a odd place two people bond.
And the story of it is called:
“Count with me,” she said, her eyes as bright as the flash, her hair pressed up under the covers. “One, two, three, four, five.”
CRASH
I laughed, and I could feel the impact through the covers. The air seemed to hum with the force of the sound. The hair on my arms stuck up into the air. Continue reading
Things looking a bit different? Yeah, you could say that. You see I am having a bit of an event on the site for the next few weeks. You can read about it here. Otherwise, no worries, this is not permanent. Just a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy.
Like it or not, Twilight as a film series was a huge hit. It made millions, and started a massive fan base. For those of us that had any connection to it, you know how insane it could get. Lines and crowds all screaming its name.
Now, you see the thing about movies, and the media in general, is that they are a business. Nothing makes as much money as Twilight, without getting industry attention. The industry loves to slam an idea into the ground until no more cash could be made from the product.
Go to any bookstore and you will see that, in the wake of Twilight, monsters and romance have become a combo that adds up to billions of dollars.
Same for movies, the industry is willing to milk it as far as they can. Any supernatural creature is up for the taking. Continue reading
It is a very exciting decade for book to movie adaptations.
So many books are getting so popular that they can become movies. Which in turn is feeding back to the popularity of books.
It is really cool to see teenagers reading again. Even if it’s just so they can understand the popular movies made from them. It is a step forward as far as I am concerned.
Now of course the two biggest success of this new fad are the “Twillight” and “Harry Potter” franchises. They are huge and made money hand over fist, continuing even too this day. But the third is just as intense in its fan base.
I am referring to the Hunger Games Trilogy. Continue reading
