I Guess It’s Time Again… (A Rant On Life)

I guess it’s time again to write these words. Hopeful, needed words. Sparklers thrown into the darkness of the world, so someone sees them and feels a little better.

I guess it’s time again to adjust those scales with a single grain of sand more amongst all other artists doing the same. Continue reading

Life Is Being Pulled Around

The difference between adults and children—besides so many other things—is perhaps the level of complexity their lives have. The older you get, the more it seems that you are being pulled into a thousand places. There’s a real worry about the death of spontaneity because the only real way to manage the increasing and often rather disparate tasks of adulthood seems to be a heavily regimented schedule or memorizing everything by simple repetition. Continue reading

A Clarification On Chaos

Whether I’ve mentioned how much I enjoy the concept of chaos is something left to my faulty memory and the ever-increasing archive of articles on this site, but here we go. I wanted to clarify this: I wanted to talk about chaos.

Because I’m not an anarchist, or a nihilist, or even someone who is unspiritual and believes only in materialism—I just like chaos. I love it. Or, rather, I love a flavor of it and feel like I can sense something when it’s really going at full froth. Continue reading

Uh, Guys, Don’t Overdo It

So, hey, I imagine a lot of people reading this are creative types. Makers of things and dreamers of dreams. And you all are awesome, but, if you’re anything like me, then you might be neglecting some stuff.

Let me say upfront, I’m an entrepreneur. A freelance worker. A person who runs from mostly one room a shit-ton of different projects and businesses. So, I say this with the utmost understanding: please remember to eat, yeah? Continue reading

Music Is Pretty Dope, Too

I am a writer, so, obviously, that’s the art form that I like the most, and the one I focus the most on, and know the most about, but, inspired by a random thought and subsequent conversation, let’s talk about something obvious.

Let’s talk about how ridiculous—in a good way—music is. Every culture, on the planet, as far as I know, figured out music. Everyone in the modern world recognizes it. Doesn’t matter what language it’s being sung in, or the volume, or the tone, music is universal. Continue reading

A Life Of Sitting Weirdly

I believe the slang term for what I am is duck-footed? I’ve heard bow-legged or flat-footed as well. The simplest way to put it is this: if you look down at your feet, and the toes point forward naturally, congrats, you don’t have what I have. If they curve outward, so that your feet point in two diagonal directions, then you do have what I have. Continue reading

Overthinker

If I were to put a label on two aspects of my personality, it would be these: I’m tenacious, and I’m an overthinker. And it’s the second thing I’m going to focus on here. I know I worry about stuff that other people just do not linger on, not for a second. “Hitler’s Painting” was an article I did specifically to address an instance of that. I have been told, since a very young age, “you’re thinking too much about this.” Continue reading

Have A Girlfriend

I once wrote a post that was perhaps the saddest thing I’ve ever written. It was bitter. It was despondent. A lot of pain placed down as words. That post detailed something that had been a massive concern, a giant sore spot on my emotional landscape. Perhaps my greatest hang up; my most damning worry.

And I thought I’d update you all on that story.

And how it had a happy ending.

Because, believe it or not, I have one now.

I have a girlfriend. Continue reading

Horror Can Be Fun

High-minded aspirations and delusions of grandeur and self-importance related to art and culture and all aside, I like horror because I like horror. Yeah, I have done posts about how darkness challenges me, how I like to test my limits, but, there’s more to it—even if it is basal in nature.

Horror is fun.

Scaring people, making people shudder, it’s fun. Continue reading

I Can Be Scared

An odd thing happened recently: I got scared.

Now, life scares me all the time. I don’t mean I live in constant fear, but, like, fear of rejection, fear of offending someone, fear of not having enough money, enough time, etc. All the usual stuff that one might more often label as stress or concerns or anxious moments happen to me.

But I don’t mean that. Continue reading

Microfiction: Hope

Hope floated over her and wished that she could just tell her. Wished she could manifest and regale her with all the new things that would happen. All the beauty and joy.

But, there Karen was, for now, crying in a shopping center. Hiding in the changing room with no interest in putting on the swimsuit that she had taken from the racks. Trying to not make too much sound even as her heart broke at the seams and into so many pieces. Continue reading
