Microfiction: That Special Drink

After a moment, after dropping down deep, the wizard Calcif emerged from it with his head swimming. He shook his head from side to side, letting his hair whip around in sharp motions. He rubbed at his eyes; the light hurt them.

“That was a…” he muttered aloud, still unable to fully shake this strange darkness that had consumed him. “That was a hell of a thing.”

“I bet,” said a close voice.

“What happened, what was that?”

He blinked a few more times and managed to see her there, holding out a cup of water to him.

“Oh, you drank,” his wife said.

“A potion?” he asked.

“Uh, I suppose. If you consider whiskey mixed with rum a potion, then yes. One heck of a potion.”
