Sometimes these posts are just as much for me in the future as they are for you guys.
This is one of those.
Because I know I will meet moments where I need a little pep talk, and thus I will store that pep talk in the one place I know I’ll find it.
And if it helps other artists out there, well, all the better.
All right. So, if you’re reading this Brandon, that means you are currently tired. A little sore. I imagine the carpal tunnel settled in, or it’s around 2 AM and you haven’t made your word count yet.
Or all of those things at once.
Well, first off dude, it would not be the first time. Hell, do you remember that night someone found you walking back and forth typing poetry into your phone at way-too-late-o’clock? Just because you didn’t make your word count with the story you were working on that day?
Yeah, and do you remember how that went the last time? You were fine. You did it. You caught up on your sleep, eventually. And you kept that writing streak in for another day.
So you can do it. I know you can. The words don’t stop. As long as you live a life with interesting things happening, you will not run out of words.
So chill out.
You can always edit later. So just go. Pound your fingers at those keys.
People might hate it?
Ha. So what?
It’s junk?
You can always edit it later.
I’m so tired.
You can always edit it later.
Just keep going. Smile, nod, and keep on writing.
Do it to hold up the Second Renaissance.
Do it because you need to write every damn day!
Do it for all the artists you poured your soul into making sure they didn’t feel like they were alone.
Do it for your fans, however small in number.
Do it for yourself.
And god damn chase a dream, Brandon.
Because I am proud of you.
I am so proud of you.
You’re stronger now than you thought you ever could be.
You’re a writer. So let’s do what we’re here to do on this planet.
