Poem: Fried Rice

When you cook all the time,

You develop some skill,

You also end up,

With signature recipes,

Things you are known to make.

And for me,

That’s chili,

But,

I wish it were my fried rice.

I love the challenge of it,

The difficulty to get it right,

Fried rice is skill intensive,

And creative,

Whereas my chili,

Is just yummy things,

In a pot,

Set to high heat,

And allowed to cook for a very long time.

No skill,

All mechanical.

I could mass-produce the stuff—

And if I were interested in being part of the food business,

I might just consider it.

Because then I could make a fair bit of money.

“Just Another Chosen One is a blisteringly paced, action-soaked debut from author Brandon Scott, sure to appeal to those who’ve gotten tired of reading the same old stories about the child of prophecy destined to save the world.”

Let me hear your opinion.
