Microfiction: The Curious Bottle

Two scientists stood over the glass bottle, ogling it. Neither wanted to touch the thing, for obvious reasons.

“It filters,” one said.

The other nodded in agreement. The bottle was full of innocent water. The lip of the bottle was stained red.

“It filters anything into water,” he added.

“Yep,” said his companion.

“Should we drink it?” the first asked.

What?! Are you crazy?!”

“It filters anything into water. The blood—”

“The diseased monkey blood,” the other corrected.

“Yes, that blood. It should be totally drinkable.”

The second scientist gently poked the bottle with the tip of his finger. “Fine…you first.”

“Then you try sewage filtered.”

“Deal.”

“Just Another Chosen One is a blisteringly paced, action-soaked debut from author Brandon Scott, sure to appeal to those who’ve gotten tired of reading the same old stories about the child of prophecy destined to save the world.”
