Poem: Loading Screen

Can you stand,

Watching that tiny circle spin?

Does it not fill your head,

With crackling?

Does it not make you wonder,

How you spent,

So much money,

On something,

And have it barely do the thing it’s meant to do?

A hundred years ago this would all be a miracle,

The weighty thoughts of sci-fi authors,

But now that we live in the future,

Now that we accept the cost of technology,

On our lives,

We expect,

Nay,

Demand,

For our highest tech screens,

To do what they are supposed to do,

Fast,

And at a speed that’s more than when we can click.

Want to read something longer by me? How about a whole novel!

“Just Another Chosen One is a blisteringly paced, action-soaked debut from author Brandon Scott, sure to appeal to those who’ve gotten tired of reading the same old stories about the child of prophecy destined to save the world.”
