I reached over 300 followers on WordPress, and it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow, so why not combine the two into one post? Because, well, one of the things I’m thankful for is that so many people, despite all the changes, despite all the different things I’ve done in my writing, the audience here continues to grow, and I get emails sometimes from people—and it means the world to me.
I do this blog for almost entirely free and yet it feels like so much a part of my life as a writer. I hope that it stays that way.
And when I started blogging, years ago, I had no idea that it would get this big. Heck, when I started this blog, I had no idea that I would achieve my goal of being a professional writer.
It’s been quite a ride. The last year especially. Life has been quite the ride. So much has happened. So very much. I’m an author now, for one. And I think I might have a few more announcements/posts to do around here within the coming months.
So, yeah, thanking. Thankful. I’m not always good at perceiving my own emotions—they get a little slippery on me when I try to really pay attention to them. But I am happy. I am thankful.
I’m looking forward to a future that’s chaotic and strange and adventurous—and that’s the best kind of living.
I have this fear that if I make too big a deal about something, if I put too much emphasis on it, that it might slip away from me. But, regardless of that—for it is an illogical fear—I’ll say I’m thankful for everyone who’s been here, who’s read, who’s helped me out in the real world. Past Me, his work paid off in so many ways—and it’s here in this post that I show some appreciation for him.
Because lord I have no idea how he managed to get through all he did to arrive at where I am.
My friends, my fans, my family, my fellow artists, thank you for sticking with me for as long as you have, and for all the help and support. Whether you were there for me in the real world, or here in the digital, I appreciate you.
I am thankful for you.
And I hope to keep writing, keep growing, as a person and as a writer, and I hope you all get to do the same, dear readers.
Raise a glass, huh?
Because, as cliché as it sounds, there really is a lot to be thankful for in this world.
