I have been listening to quite a few theological debates lately and this story just sorta sprang from my head.
I hope you enjoy it; this microfiction about reality, simply titled:
Theory

I want you to understand that what I did was strictly for science. Perhaps with these last words you might understand that I was not motivated by hubris, but by genuine curiosity. We’re raised to believe that the search for knowledge is the greatest goal of the species. I still believe that. I still think that the desire for truth is never flawed, and only the methods used can be blamed. It is the wish of the ignorant, of the oppressor, to keep the population uneducated. We think we are noble, because we are. No one faults Albert for helping create the nuclear bomb. It’s the intention of the action that defines it, not the consequences. I want… no, need, you to understand that.
It was not my fault. I only looked for the truth.
I did not end the universe. I simply disproved it.
