Half-nap,
Sleep slap,
Down for the count,
But it’s a short count,
Sweaty sides,
Sweaty mind,
Slushed and rebooting.
Too comfortable,
Lying there,
Sleep claimed,
My head and hair,
Pulled me down,
Into lovely dreams,
Awaken later,
Gradually.
A brief break,
Not a thing called sleep,
Makes me feel a little rested,
But not fully.
Get back up,
Check the clock,
Only an hour,
Thank the gods.
Back to work,
With a goal now,
To sleep proper,
Next to someone,
I adore.
A few things to do,
Then back I go,
To the sleep,
The dream show,
While my body is in—
A place I know,
That’s safe.
