Christmas Collection #3: Favorite Poem! “Poem: Every Night”

(Originally posted April 9th, 2016)

The nighttime still so soundless,

Filled with

Something dread.

A monster deep inside us.

Begging to be fed.

A dreamless, sleepless night,

Caught with our eyes

That try not to see

Where the monster flies.

And what becomes of families.

So come morning,

When we wake,

And taste our stolen blood.

We’ll dream a different dream.

For the safety of our loves.

One without a murder,

One without a fight,

And one without the monsters,

We become every night.
