Poem: Sleepy Girlfriend

Opposites her and I,

When it comes to getting shut-eye,

I can’t seem to drift,

Off to sleep,

Without a solid shift of staring,

At a screen,

She on the other hand,

Could probably fall asleep on her hand—

And not have much of an issue.

A caffeine addict and her routine sleep-deprived,

Is it any wonder we have strange habits regarding shut-eye?

But somehow it works,

Somehow,

It’s fine,

Because I wake her up each day,

I really don’t mind,

Because she’s the first thing I get to see,

First person with whom I get to be,

And that’s a future I love,

For both her and me.

“Just Another Chosen One is a blisteringly paced, action-soaked debut from author Brandon Scott, sure to appeal to those who’ve gotten tired of reading the same old stories about the child of prophecy destined to save the world.”
