Poem: Can It Can

Can this can of soup,

Be used for anything more,

Besides a can of soup?

To begin,

Can a man be a man—

If not able to eat soup?

Is soup,

Soup,

If no man eats it?

These are questions being asked by a poem.

But is a poem,

A poem,

If you are only skimming it,

Because I started it with me talking about soup?

What is the point of me writing this?

I know it’s too silly.

I know soup is too silly.

And I get that I’m being meta.

I wish I could say—

I wish I could say now—

That I wrote this craving soup.

That it’s about that.

But nope.

I just felt like being random.

“Just Another Chosen One is a blisteringly paced, action-soaked debut from author Brandon Scott, sure to appeal to those who’ve gotten tired of reading the same old stories about the child of prophecy destined to save the world.”
