Telling A Story In Five Words

I am a firm believer that being good at storytelling requires one to learn how to tell a tale at great length or in a short burst. And so, because of this first story:

“Today’s busy, this fills time.”

I am going to endeavor to tell five more short stories, with only five words, in five of my favorite genre’s/sub-genres: Science Fiction, Dark Fantasy, Horror, Weird Fiction, and Meta Fiction.

So, let’s begin, shall we?

Science Fiction:

“Time travel worked, paradoxes didn’t.”

Dark Fantasy:

“Poison? Cure? Mel chose wrong.”

Horror:

“It’s not in the cage.”

Weird Fiction

“In Hell, carcinogens do nothing.”

Meta Fiction:

“I only get five words?”

And there we go.

What did you think of my five-word stories? What are your favorite genres? And do you want to try to write within them with only five words available? Post below if you have any super short stories bubbling up, and I’ll see you guys on Saturday when I’ll have a story with a much larger word count.
