Trailer Talk: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials

Well, I haven’t done one of these in a while. And I’ve actually read both of these books, so…

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

I’m really late to this one. Like, this trailer came out in July. But I started this website with me reviewing The Hunger Games (and Ender’s Game,) and I am not going to let this movie series go out without my two cents on the matter.

And my opinion is…holy shit. Is this the same series thats first movie was an absolute mess of shaky cam? Thats only notable feature was slightly more brutal deaths than people were expecting? Because this trailer is not only epic, it’s quotable, and shiver-inducing, and foreboding…and if you’ve read the books, absolutely heartbreaking.

I mean…like wow. I’m so stunned by this trailer my vocabulary is actively shrinking…. They’re going to keep it all like the book, aren’t they? The violence, the wanton death, the traps…just all of it. That tagline is right…this will be an epic conclusion. This will be a global phenomenon.

This movie is going to make a fuck-ton of money.

And some of it’s coming from me.

The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials

The first movie was not good. There, I said it, and I stand by it. It was bland, and boring. The main character was dull, and the action was “meh”.

But, I’m cautiously optimistic about this. The sets are a lot more interesting than the last time, and anything involving W.I.C.K.E.D. tends to be at the very least, fun to watch.

And as a Game of Thrones fan, can I just give them a round of applause for picking the best actor to play an untrustworthy scientist? Aidan Gillen really needs to be in more movies.

So yeah, fingers crossed. Even though it’s basically about a zombie apocalypse, even though it’s still about the same generic characters, and even though it’s just going to be a lot of running interspersed with action scenes, I am still hopeful. I will give it a try.

I probably should get around to finishing the book series though.
