You may have noticed some changes around the site.
Some of them are from me, some I actually have no idea what caused them. The usual blue of my page looks more striking and bolder for some reason—and that has nothing to do with me.
I guess WordPress is just cool like that.
Anyway, you probably noticed the screen pop-up and the little orange bar that’s hovering around the bottom as you read this.
Those are both very much coming from me.
I should have a long time ago, but I am finally making a real attempt to get a mailing list created.
Now, if you have no idea why I am doing this, a brief explanation of why they are so important:
A mailing list is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a list of people that get mail. It’s a marketing and promotional tool that allows direct communication between authors and readers, without worrying about things like social media algorithms or paid advertising.
If you happen to listen to successful authors online, a lot of them claim that getting fans on a mailing list and then giving them lots of cool (and free) information/stories is the secret to success as an author. Some claim it is literally the most important thing in book marketing.
So, yeah, that’s why I’m doing all this new stuff. I’m trying to build one. I’m sorry if the pop-ups maybe feel a little spammy, or like I’m asking too much. I just figured that, if anywhere I would find fans of mine interested in joining the newsletter, you guys, my blog readers, would be amicable.
So, if you haven’t already, if you want to know when I release new books and want some more specific and topical writing tips, then use the little orange bar that’s still likely hovering there, and then keep an eye on your inbox.
It’s an adventure, this authorship thing, and I’m hoping I can bring some of you along for the ride.
